Today we headed out to Sheep River Provincial Park for a half day hike on Foran Grade. This trail is best hiked from East to West, and the ridge has excellent views of the Sheep Valley and Windy Point. An easy 6.4 km loop can be made by descending Windy Point Trail and returning to the trail-head via Sheep Trail. Elevation gain 240 m / 800 ft.
The annual road closure west of Sandy McNabb campground added 4 km to the official hike. We had a fantastic sunny day, and we heard the beautiful song of the wind, which can quiet the mind like nothing else. Also the trail was mostly dry on our way up the ridge, and a little on the moist side, on our return through the valley downhill.
The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. – Anne Frank
